A meeting of the former students and
families of Union Christian College (Aluva) in Kuwait was held on
Friday, the 23rd of October 2009 from 5.00 to 7.00pm at the Indian
Public School Auditorium, Salmiya. The chief guest at the function was
the former Principal, Dr. C. Joyce Mathew. Dr Joyce Mathew was
accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Sally Joyce, an alumnus of UC College.
About 80 members attended the event.
The meeting started with a silent prayer.
Mr. Cyriac George gave the welcome
speech, in which he recalled the goals of the founders of UC College.
Mr. Mohammed Sageer presided over the
function. He read out a message from the present Principal, Dr. Varghese
K John, felicitating the reunion in Kuwait.
Dr. C. Joyce Mathew, the Chief Guest of
the event, gave a remarkable speech reminiscing his decades of service
at the college and the relevant role of the Union Christian College in
today’s society.
Felicitations were delivered by M.
Mathews (Managing Director of Sefeena Trading & General Contracting
Co.), Mr. C. J. Joy (Chief Manager, Behzad International Transportation
Co.) and Miss. Anitha Earaly( Human Resource Manager, ACICO.)
A business session of the meeting was
conducted and the following were elected as office bearers of the UC
College Alumni, Kuwait chapter.

Mrs. Reena George - Joint Secretary
Mr. Bipin Madhavan - Treasurer
Mr. Narendran Menon - Joint Treasurer
Other Executive Committee Members are:
Mr. Sajeev Mathew, Mr. Prakash Menon, Mr.
Bobby Paul and Mr. Asif Pedikat.
Dr. C. Joyce Mathew officially
inaugurated the Kuwait Chapter of Alumni of the Union Christian College
following the meeting. Mr. Asif Pedikat proposed the vote of thanks. A
group photo with the Chief Guest and attendees was taken.
The meeting came to a close at 7.15pm.
The participants enjoyed refreshments and networking following the
meeting.
